Does Marine Phytoplankton Help with Candida?

Marine Phytoplankton offers broad spectrum benefits to candida sufferers: boosting immunity, detoxifying, alkalising, and combating tiredness. This article explains in some depth why algae should be a part of any anti-fungal regime.

What is Candida?

Candida is a disease of our times. It feeds upon people with poor diets, depleted immune systems, and deficient gut bacteria leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. In the natural health industry, candida treatment and/or cures has been a tremendous growth area, leading to a surge in high potency probiotics, anti-fungal oils and supplements, and garlic-infused suppositories, to name a few. Since candida is a hardy genus of yeasts, and the body a warm, moist sugar-rich environment it can be notoriously difficult to kill off and, as a result, many of these recommended treatments are extremely harsh. Many people have actually worsened their conditions or depleted their immune system further by overconsumption of harsh anti-fungals. In this picture comes marine phytoplankton powder, a gentle yet highly effective addition to any candida cleanse, and which appears to show some remarkable results.

Candida Albicans and PhytoplanktonPhytoplankton as an Anti-fungal

Phytoplankton is not a fierce anti-fungal such as garlic. But it does appear to encourage conditions in which the candida yeasts find it impossible to survive. We’ll look at what those might be:

Candida cannot survive in an Alkaline Environment

While candida favours acidic systems, phyotplankton works to balance the body’s PH with a PH of 8-8.5.

Increased Oxygenation

While low levels of gut/cellular oxygen encourage candida to thrive, the regular use of marine phytoplankton powder increases oxygen levels in the blood.

Reduces Inflammation

Many of the unpleasant side-effects of candida overgrowth are caused by inflammation. Thanks to phytoplanktons extraordinarily high levels of inflammation reducing DHA (docosaexaenoic acid),  EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and ALA (Alpha-linolenic acid), it appears to help tremendously with these symptoms, including oral thrush and topical candida. Our Health Factory phytoplankton offers particular benefits in this regard as it is specifically bred for its elevated levels of concentrated phospholipid form EPA and DHA.

Binds to Myotoxins

Marine phytoplankton contains numerous substances which aid gut healing but one of these is chlorophyll, responsible for the deep green of the plankton powder. Chlorophyll experiments conducted at Oregon State University in Corvallis reveal that chlorophyll successfully binds to mytoxins, (theacidic waste products made by candida), to block these toxins from entering the bloodstream.

Combats Fatigue

One thing many candida suffers appear to share is a sense of decreased vitality. Part of the reason for this may be due to its interaction with the bodies mitochondrial function, responsible for the basis transfer of energy in our cells. Since candida inteferes with mitochondria, sufferers report poor absorption. In this scenario, marine phytoplankton again reports astounding benefits. Since it is five times smaller than a human red blood cell, it falls into an incredibly rare minority of substances which can be directly absorbed with requiring mitochondria.

Inhibits pathogenic bacteria

Since phytoplankton is only relatively recently taken as a food supplement, more research exists on its used in other arenas. One interesting study ‘The Phytoplankton Nannochloropsis oculata Enhances the Ability of Roseobacter Clade Bacteria to Inhibit the Growth of Fish Pathogen Vibrio anguillarum‘ concludes that phytoplankton appears to exhbit certain powerful properties in combatting pathogenic activity. This certainly tallies with our own experience which is that it really ranks in the first tier of safe, absorbable, deeply nourishing supplements in any anti-candida regime.

A safe, life-enhancing candida supplement with no nasty side effects

It is our belief that marine phytoplankton really packs a powerful punch against candida, helping restore the body to a state of complete health like no other plant substance on the planet. Unlike prescription medications which give terrible side effects, or even the natural anti-fungals like pau d’arco, oregano oil or garlic, plankton is gentle and works on the level of complete holistic health.
